A quick and dirty 15-30min card game for 2-4 players. Set collecting mechanics, with drafting and stealing, hand management to create the best treasure sets. Competitive game with players working against each other plus an automated 'Dragon' player - and the Dragon could win!

Competitive with a touch of reluctant cooperation. Two decks can be combined to play with 5+ players.

Goblin Plunder was original created as a smaller game, intended to be used as a 'tavern game' within tabletop roleplay games like Dungeons & Dragons. But the quirky little goblins got bold and broke out of their tiny cave!

The deck features distinctive 2-ended treasure cards. During the game cards can be rotated to change the treasure, keep treasure from other players, or to avoid mimics in the cave. The design not only creates a 56 option deck with just 28 cards but also adds another layer of potential actions.

Goblin Plunder has been repeatedly playtested and tweaked with help from the Scarborough Games Society, at a game designers convention, and with local game shop players.

How to Play

Play consists of rounds of stealing treasure to build points and sets, and the dragon taking his pick at the end of each round.

How to Play the Game

  • Set up: Each player starts with 1 card and 4 cards are laid down in a circle as the "Dragon's Cave".
  • The Hoard: Each player has a Hoard card - and can place cards from their hand into the hoard. Protected from other stealing goblins.
  • Goblin Actions: On each turn, players choose one action: Take a card from the dragon's cave, steal a card from a player, turn or flip a card in the cave or in their hand, or stash a card into their hoard.
  • The Dragon Action: The Dragon tries to take a treasure at the end of each round, protecting its own hoard.
  • 2 Sides of Treasure: Only the upright values or the inner cave values count towards winning. So players need to be clever about turning cards as an action to get the best combos before time runs out, or to prevent the Dragon from getting the best loot!
  • Winning Loot: Once the dragon can take no more actions, everyone's treasure is tallied for value (1, 2, or 3 items on the treasure card) and sets. Remember, cards in a hoard are worth more at the end

  • Did a Goblin get away with the best treasure? Or did the Dragon protect its hoard?
